1. Data We Collect
When you use Dialectiq AI, we collect the following information:
- Account information — your email address and a securely hashed password.
- Conversation content — the messages you send and receive during negotiation practice sessions.
- Usage metrics — session counts, hint usage, and subscription tier.
- Payment information — processed and stored by Stripe. We store only your Stripe customer ID, not your card details.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide and operate the negotiation practice service.
- To track usage against your plan limits.
- To improve negotiation quality and the overall service.
- To process payments and manage subscriptions via Stripe.
3. AI & Third-Party Services
Dialectiq AI uses OpenAI's API to generate AI persona responses and evaluate negotiation outcomes. When you send a message in a negotiation session, your conversation history is sent to OpenAI for processing.
- We never use your conversation text to train models.
- We use anonymized outcome metadata (persona type, strategy chosen, success/failure) — with all personally identifiable information removed — to improve the quality of our strategy engine. See Section 6 below.
- OpenAI's data retention and usage policies apply to data sent to their API. Refer to OpenAI's usage policies for details.
- Payment processing is handled by Stripe, subject to Stripe's privacy policy.
4. Cookies
We use only strictly necessary httpOnly cookies for authentication (access token and refresh token). We do not use analytics cookies, tracking cookies, or any third-party advertising cookies.
5. Data Retention
Your conversation data is stored until you delete individual sessions or delete your account entirely. When you delete your account, all associated data — including sessions, messages, hint results, usage records, and subscription information — is permanently removed from our systems.
6. Anonymized Data for Service Improvement
To improve the quality and speed of our strategy engine, we extract anonymized outcome metadata from hint results. This includes:
- What we collect — persona type (e.g. ESTJ), strategy name, tonal tweak, win/loss outcome, search tree depth, and visit counts.
- What we remove — user ID, email address, negotiation objectives, conversation text, and scenario context. The extracted data cannot be linked back to any individual user.
Purpose: this data is used to train value functions that accelerate strategy search, making hints faster and more accurate over time.
Legal basis: GDPR Article 6(1)(f) — legitimate interest, with anonymization ensuring minimal impact on data subjects. Under the EU AI Act, this constitutes a minimal-risk AI system (a practice tool, not used for high-stakes decision-making).
7. Your Rights
Under applicable data protection laws (including GDPR and CCPA), you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you (GDPR Article 15).
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data (GDPR Article 17). You can do this from your account settings page.
- Portability — request your data in a portable format (GDPR Article 20).
- Object to processing — you may object to anonymized data processing under GDPR Article 21. Contact us and we will exclude your future data from the extraction pipeline.
